SONIA FULLER
joined the company in 1975 and worked in various capacities.
In 1989 she began serving as personal secretary to managing
director Mr. Leslie Ridout and later functioned as company
secretary. She was appointed a director of the company
in 1991. Concurrent with that appointment she took on
the role of Personnel Manager, a position she held until
2003 when increasing responsibilities and a growing business
required the employment of a full-time officer. Other
specific responsibilities over time included her assignment
as Start-up Manager of the Pavilion store (second store
in the chain) and later her appointment as Stores Overseer
to coincide with the opening of the Boulevard SuperCentre
and Springs branches. Special focus was on the implementation
of the cyber centres. Mrs Fuller still holds this position
of Stores Overseer, the major objective of which is “to
ensure aesthetics, staff training, and that quality customer service in the
stores are maintained”.
In 1996 she was appointed to the position of Director
of Administration with concomitant responsibilities. Over
the years her performance has been marked by commitment,
conscientiousness, efficiency and a high level of professionalism.
Married since 1978 to Steadman Fuller, Mrs. Fuller's input
into the daily operations of the company ensures stability
and order that supports the growth of the company. The
Fullers work as a team with Mr. Fuller handling supervision
of operations while Mrs. Fuller concentrates on administration.
On the matter of the success of the company, Mrs. Fuller
expressed the view that the success of the company was
due, in part, to “our special emphasis on educational
and religious books. Also, sound management, and a positive
outlook on life enable us to see the great possibilities
for the future, so that instead of contracting, we are
expanding.”
